Page Break / Jump Break In Blogger

Most of the time I visit some blog or website I saw a topic having a small paragraph and has link i.e ‘Read More' / Continue Reading’ with it. When I started blogging I was wondering what it is called and how to do it. After little finding I got to know that its called 'Jump Break'.


In simple words Jump Break is a feature provided by blogger that break the content of the blog page and shows a link to show the entire blog content. This really help to present your blog. It allows you to show a brief introdcution of a blog topic, giving more readable and presentable content on home page. Helps showing more content on blogger home page.

Lets start how can we implement it…. Its a two step process.

#1 – Configure Blog Posts (One Time Config)

- Login to your blogger account.
- Click on  Layout Link on left sidebar
- You will see gadget ‘(Blog Posts)’, Click on ‘Edit’ link on the gadget.

- It will open ‘Configure Blog Posts’ window.
- Enter desired value for ‘Number of Posts on Main Page’
- Enter desired text for ‘Post Page Link Text’. This is the text that will show on your blog after short paragraph e.g ‘Read More’ OR ‘Continue Reading’.

- Save the changes.

#2 – Inserting Jump Break To Blog Post

- Write a new blog post, once done decide where to insert ‘Jump Break’. You need to decide based on the content of the blog post. The idea is to give small introduction of the post to the readers.
- Place the cursor where you what to insert 'Jump Break'.

- Click on the ‘Jump Break’ icon on the toolbar. It will insert a dotted line, that confirms that Jump Break is inserted.

- Save the post and you are done…
